August’s Meeting - Nancy Kline, Superintendent of Schools for Martin County School District spoke to our group. She presented handouts and a discussion period followed.

September 12th Meeting - C.K. Hoffler, legal counsel for Barack Obama’s campaign will speak about Women and the Law. Social time begins at 10:00 and the meeting will begin at 10:30 A.M. at the Womans Club of Stuart.

State DWC Convention - Marie Argana, Marilyn Mordes and I will represent DWC of Martin County at the convention which will be from September 24-27th. The convention’s theme is “Breaking the Barriers” and will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Indialantic, Fl (close to Melbourne). The speaker for Friday night will be Doris Weatherford, Author and Professor.
Saturday the election of officers will be held in the morning followed by a silent auction and Blue Donkey sale. The keynote speaker will be Karen Thurman.

Condolences - Board member, Eula Robinson Clarke’s sister, Pauline Knight, passed away on August 20, 2009. The church was filled with friends and family on Sunday, September 6th who came to celebrate her life.

Meeting changes - Many of our members have indicated they prefer to attend a meeting in the evening and so we are going to alternate Saturdays and an evening during the week. There were two requests to change the venue to a branch library but our research indicated that not to be a viable option. Therefore, our meetings will continue to be held at the Womans Club of Stuart.

October’s meeting will be held on the 13th (Tuesday) at 5:30 P.M.. November’s meeting will be on Saturday. All members will be kept informed about meeting days and times.

Fundraiser - As published previously, our fundraiser will be a performance by Mark Russell in March at the Lyric Theatre. Cost of each ticket will be $50.00. Marie Argana has agreed to head this venture. Tickets are not yet available but will be before the holidays. Tickets to this event would make lovely gifts for friends and relatives. Keep it in mind.

See you on Saturday, the 12th!

Reminder - If you are able, please bring non-perishable items for those who are less fortunate
